122 Pets fixed in project with Humane Ohio

During the week of July 23, 121 cats and one small dog were spayed and neutered at Humane Ohio in Toledo. We thank all the volunteers who worked to  make the project possible and the people who brought their pets into be spayed or neutered. Because of their concern for their pets, and of stray cats in the neighborhood, more than 1,000 kittens will not be born into a world without homes for them.

Taking cats to clinics in other areas is only beginning. We are working to establish a clinic to take care of pets every weekday until the pet overpopulation problem is resolved.

How can I help?
Volunteer: if you have time, there are a million things that need done and we can find a place for everyone who has time and a desire to help the animals.

Who is Lifesavers?

A new program formed to serve the animals in North Central Ohio.

Our clinic is being planned but will not be available until early 2008.

We believe that people care about their pets and large numbers would get their pets spayed or neutered if a convenient low cost program existed to serve their needs. Spaying or neutering large numbers of pets would reduce the number of unwanted pets euthanized, reduce the burden on homeowners and municipalities and save countless suffering of the animals. We intend to open a Spay Neuter clinic and invite all who are interested to join our effort.

Many good people dedicate countless hours to making the lives better for the pets who are here but there are simply not enough homes for every pet born so thousands of cats and dogs die each year. We celebrate and are thankful for all the improvements in the animal movement over the last 10 years but we cannot adopt our way out of the problem of pet overpopulation.

We seek to contact all local rescues and caregivers to chat about the need for service in the area. We hope that you will contact us or send a message so we can talk.

Thank you.
